‘At our beach, at our magic beach’
For generations our family have kept coming to this magical part of the world. At this very beach, we have created memories, lifelong friendships, watched loved blossom, children grow, and etched in our hearts the essence of our magic beach.
Our dream was always to have a home away from home at Rainbow Bay, which we could continue our family holiday traditions that we have held for many years.
Our project took on a whole new life of it’s on. With our family of adults, we all poured our love for this place and our desire to create a home that was relaxing, vibrant, and a little bit funky. We wanted to keep the character of the originally built 1981 townhouse, yet inject some new and fresh life into the design. By keeping accents of the cedar wood, terrazzo flooring, exposed brick and peaked ceilings, but also incorporating modern palettes and styling.
Owners, Jane and James were a blind date in 1983, and Jane introduced James to the place that her family had been coming for many generations, Rainbow Bay. In the early nineties, James was walking along the beach with toddler son, Cameron and looked up at these townhouses, and thought to himself, “One day I’m going to buy one of those”. James graduated as an Army Officer from RMC Duntroon, and then became a management consultant, with then eventually venturing into a governance consulting business. During this time the whole family, Jane and both children, Cameron and Alicia have worked and still today work for the family business. Finally in 2016, The Rainbow Shack was purchased and James’ twenty-eight year old dream came true.
The Rainbow Shack is managed by their daughter Alicia and supported by son Cameron with website management.
